African American Males Positively Impacting Others

Jamal Tate’s Biography

Jamal Tate was born in the sunshine state of San Jose, California. He grew up in a single parent house hold and has never known his father. He has experienced many hardships in life and statistically speaking should have been dead or in jail 2 years ago.  In high school, he never had a junior year, completed his senior exit project, or took the SAT. He has been expelled from school 3 times. He has been arrested on multiple occasions and charged with numerous felonies. His highest bond has been upwards of $80,000. The most severe crime he has been charged with is armed robber and second degree kidnapping. However, his life was spared and God has allowed him to use his experiences to impact a generation. He is no Martin Luther King Jr. or Ghandi. He does not seek recognition for the works that he is doing. He states that he is a servant who has been charged with a mission to serve his community, and intends to dedicate his life to serving that community as long as he is breathing. He states that he “cannot allow the spirit of fear our doubt to inhibit his psyche. No matter what endeavors he is directed to pursue his desires will always outweigh his fears. He believes that life is what you make it and that you are in control of your destiny. He chose years ago to stop living his life in mediocrity and instead pursue a culture of excellence. No one can make the change for you, but his hopes are that you will be inspired and learn from his experiences.” Jamal is currently a junior at Queens University of Charlotte where he majors in Organizational Communication and has a minor in business leadership.
